Canton High School graduate Austen Langley of Canton has earned a tuition scholarship in the local level of The Art Institutes and Americans for the Arts “You Can Create Tomorrow” Poster Design Competition.
Langley placed first in the high school senior category of the competition, earning a $3,000 tuition scholarship to attend The Art Institute of Michigan.
As the first place winner in the high school senior category, Langley’s design was entered into the national stage of the competition, in which he competed against other local winners in the high school senior category from across North America for up to a full tuition scholarship to an Art Institutes school.
The competition was open to graduating high school seniors and high school graduates interested in pursuing a creative education. Students submitted an original poster design, a current high school transcript and a designer statement. In May, a panel of industry professionals selected by The Art Institutes schools assessed each local winner’s poster design based on the specified criteria by visiting the posters and designers’ statements on The Art Institutes website.
“We were very impressed by the winning entry in The Art Institute of Michigan’s Poster Design Competition,” said Curt Hemmeler, President of The Art Institute of Michigan. “Every year, the designs continue to exceed our expectations, proving that these students are poised to work toward careers that truly will create tomorrow.”
