Canton Man Dead Following Two-Car Crash

The area of Canton Center and Hanford roads was partially closed for several hours Thursday morning for an investigation of the accident.

A 41-year-old driver died in Canton Thursday morning after he apparently suffered a medical condition, crossed the center lane while southbound on Canton Center Road at Hanford Road and struck another vehicle, police Sgt. Pat Sullivan told the Canton Observer.

The accident happened about 8 a.m. and stopped traffic, according to the article. Canton Police said Canton Center remained partially closed late Thursday morning.

The 41-year-old man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the article said.

“We believe his death is due to a medical condition and not the accident,” Sullivan told the Observer. “We don’t believe speed was an issue, and we don’t believe alcohol was a factor with either driver.”

Police had not released the man’s name Thursday morning and were awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death, according to the article.

The driver of the second vehicle was treated at the scene by paramedics but declined to be taken to a hospital, the article said.

My condolences to the man's family. How awful for the other driver, too.

The Deceased was a beloved friend of mine and just a great person. We have truly lost an angel. He ran a men's ministry, and was a branch manager at a local bank where he was loved by his staff. He was one of the best managers I have ever had in the corporate world. Please pray for his wife and 2 children he leaves behind.

I know his wife, she is a devoted woman and I can't imagine the pain that she is going through. I pray for their children and if there is any person who can survive and give those kids enough love and guidance for two it is her.

This absolutely breaks my heart. I didn't know him like a lot of people did but he came to the gym almost every day and was one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting!! Always smiling and always had something nice to say to me. Knowing I may be one of the last people he ever had contact with truly breaks my heart. My condolences to his whole family.
