Canton Police Cite 8 Businesses on Charges of Underage Alcohol, Tobacco Sales
Department unit sends decoys to 25 Canton retailers.

Canton Police cited 8 retailers on charges of selling alcohol or tobacco to minors, according to a news release from the department.
According to the news release, the Canton Police Department's Special Enforcement Unit conducted alcohol and tobacco sales checks at 25 local businesses using decoy minors. Of the 25 stores visited by the decoys, 17 refused sales of alcohol and tobacco to minors, the news release indicated.
Sunoco, 42495 Joy Road; Valero Gas, 41350 Ford Road; Shell, 5640 Haggerty Road and Maria's Bakery, 115 Haggerty Road, all reportedly sold tobacco to decoy minors, the news release indicated.
Smokers Express, 45156 Ford Road; Crown Liquor, 42432 Ford Road; Mobil, 7230 N. Sheldon Road and Rite Aid, 2249 N. Canton Center Road all reportedly sold alcohol to decoy minors, according to police officials.
According to Canton Police, the special unit has conducted such checks for several years and the department has a "zero tolerance" policy with violations such as underage tobacco and alcohol sales. Businesses who illegally sell alcohol or tobacco to minors receive a misdemeanor citation, the news release indicated, and alcohol sales violations are reported to Michigan's Liquor Control Commission.

I thought that it was illegal for gas stations in Wayne County to sell alcohol to anybody. How is it that the Mobil on Sheldon could sell alcohol at all?

well there is a liqour license and there is also another type of license that allows the sale of beer and wine. some gas stations have the permits to sell alcohol. personally i think its stupid for gas stations to sell booze, sometimes i think it promots drinking and driving
