Canton Police Investigate Possible ATM Break-In
The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.
A bank employee told police she thought the door to the vault of the ATM appeared to have been tampered with and had scratches below the lock, the report said.
An evidence technician reported the scratch marks on the door appeared to be superficial, but noted there did not appear to be pry marks on the door, the report said.
Surveillance footage will be reviewed for possible suspects if a crime had occurred, the report indicated.
Man accused of shoplifting from Walmart
Canton Township Police responded Sept. 18 to Walmart, 45555 Michigan Ave., for a report of a suspected shoplifter inside the store, according to a police report.
The store’s loss prevention officer told the police dispatcher a man was seen taking several knives and bottles of liquor and had a razor blade, the report said.
Three police officers stopped the man and recovered the concealed merchandise, turning it back over to the store, the report said.
The loss prevention officer told police the man was seen concealing two bottles of Absolut-brand vodka in his waistband, placing shoe inserts inside his boots and taking a tag off a ball cap and placing it on his head, the report said, before the man left the store and was stopped by police.
While in custody, the man also was accused of damaging a wire of a radar unit on the rear glass of the patrol car, the report said.
Police cited the man on charges of third-degree retail fraud and malicious destruction of property for the damaged radar unit.
