Crime Report: Traffic Stops Yield Drug Arrests

The following information was supplied by the Plymouth Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Plymouth Township police stopped a car traveling westbound Jan. 28 on Five Mile Road west of Haggerty Road that had a brake light out, according to a police report.

When the officer confronted the driver, he noticed his driver’s license was expired and discovered the scent of marijuana coming form the vehicle.

When he initially asked the driver if he had anything in the car that he shouldn’t have, he said no, the report said. When the officer asked the driver if he was sure, he told the officer he wasn’t going to lie, admitting he had marijuana in his car.

The man showed the officer a jar with two buds of marijuana, the report said, totaling 1.8 grams. Police arrested the driver for marijuana possession and had his car impounded. He is due in court Feb. 14.

Driver, passenger arrested for marijuana possession

Plymouth Township police stopped a car Jan. 28 that had crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic while traveling westbound on Ann Arbor Road toward Beck Road.

When police contacted the driver, the scent of marijuana was evident, but the driver and passenger denied having an illegal substance in the vehicle, the report said. The officer asked if they could search the car and the driver and passenger said no.

The officer called Canton Police Department’s K-9 unit, and its police dog, Thor, indicated a presence of marijuana inside the car, the report said. Police retrieved a glass marijuana pipe from the front passenger seat and a pack of rolling papers behind the front passenger seat. In the trunk, police found a jar containing marijuana, a glass marijuana pipe and seven beers.

The driver and passenger were arrested and cited for marijuana possession.

Woman reports purse missing from restaurant

Plymouth Township police met Jan. 28 with a woman who reported her purse missing from Ruby Tuesday, according to a police report.

The woman told police that earlier that evening, she and her husband had dinner at Ruby Tuesday, 15075 N. Beck Road, when she paid for dinner with money from her purse. She told police she left the restaurant, apparently leaving her purse at her seat in the restaurant.

Later realizing she had left her purse, she told police she contacted the manager of the restaurant, who said nobody had turned in a purse.

The woman told police that inside her purse she had eyeglasses, cash, various credit cards, her driver’s license, checkbook, wallet, keys and Social Security card.

The woman told police she had canceled credit cards and was in the process of closing her checking account and was unaware of any illegal activity on any of her accounts. Police have no suspects.
