Canton Township Police were dispatched to Walmart, 45555 Michigan Ave., for a report of a shoplifting suspect in custody, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police the woman was in the store’s cosmetics department peeling price tags off merchandise and concealing the items in her purse, the report said. The woman then proceeded to the accessory department and concealed multiple items in her purse. 

The store’s loss prevention officer stopped the woman and recovered the merchandise.

Police arrested the woman on charges of third-degree retail fraud and she was given an Aug. 14 court date.
