Day 2: The Sardine Room Courses for Restaurant Week
There are 10 restaurants participating in Downtown Plymouth's 10-day Restaurant Week.
Plymouth Restaurant Week is a chance for people to experience the tastes of Downtown Plymouth.
It's a 10-day event from Sept. 28 to Oct.7 when participating restaurants will feature three, four, or five-course meals at discounted prices.
The Sardine Room, open for five months, is one of the restaurants participating and will be serving three-course meals for $25.
First course options:
It is served in a cocktail sauce with lemon and a seasonal pickle selection.
"They are sardines form Portugal. We pan sear them in brown butter and syrup," said Mario Maniac, executive chef at The Sardine Room. "Then we play that up with fried capers on top."
He said he uses fresh thyme, garlic and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
House Made Gnocchi
Gnocchi is a type of dumpling. It is pan fried with an arugula puree and shaved pecorino romano, a salty Italian cheese.
Fresh Mixed Greens
This includes tomato, cucumber, radish, red onions and the house vinaigrette.
Fish & Chips
The fish is battered day boat cod served with hand cut fries and house slaw.
The chicken is marinated in a spicy jerk seasoning, Maniac said, which is complex and includes 10 different spices like cumin, cayenne peppers and smoked paprica.
"We make our own spice and blend," he said. "We take the paste and rub it all over the chicken and let it marinate for three days."
The chicken is organic from Battle Creek, Mich., Maniac said. The dish comes with Jamaican-style red beans and rice.
It includes fish du jour, mussels, prawn and andouille sausage.
Chocolate Mousse and Fresh Berry Parfait
Danish Cheese Cake
"It is a layer of chocolate cake and then a layer of Danish cheese cake," Maniac said. "Then another layer of chocolate cake and then a layer of soft chocolate ganache over the whole cake."
All of the dishes are on the regular menu. The Sardine Room three-course meal will be available starting 4 p.m. every day.
