Driver Killed in Accident at Beck and Five Mile

Alcohol not believed to be a factor in crash that killed 79-year-old South Lyon driver.

 

A 79-year-old driver was killed Monday morning in a traffic accident at Beck and Five Mile roads, according to a news release from the Plymouth Township Police Department.

The accident occurred about 7:20 a.m. Monday, when a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by the 79-year-old victim, a South Lyon resident, collided with a tractor-trailer.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver has not yet been identified, pending location and notification of family members.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 40-year-old Westland resident, was not injured in the accident.

According to police, alcohol is not believed to be a factor, but the accident remains under investigation. Northville Township Police assisted at the scene.
