1. Celebrate Diwali at Canton Public Library

Celebrate Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, at Canton Public Library, 1200 S. Canton Center Rd. at 7 p.m. Wednesday, in the community room.

Diwali is one of the oldest and most important festivals in India. The name comes from the Indian word "Deepavali" and the literal translation means "an array of lamps." This free family friendly event will feature Indian music, dancing, rangoli, sampling of Indian food and the art of drawing henna patterns

Remember to vote Tuesday! If you live in the city, you have city commission and Plymouth-Canton school board elections. The city commission has four candidates vying for four seats and the school board has 14 candidates vying for four seats. If you live in the township, you just have the aforementioned school board election.

4. City Commission to meet tonight

The Plymouth City Commission will meet at Plymouth City Hall tonight to discuss fire hose nozzle purchases and Old Village fire station bids. The meeting begins 7 p.m. in the commission chambers.
