A packed Arctic Edge Ice Arena watched the Detroit Moose take on former NHL stars with the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association on Saturday as the players skated for a cause.

The two teams raised more than $30,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. While the Red Wings Alumni Association — which includes notable former Red Wings and other former pro players with ties to the area — skated away with a 10-3 win, the fundraiser was a joint effort between the two charitables clubs.

Stars on hand for the game included Hall of Famer Igor Larionov, along with ex-Red Wings Joe Kocur, Petr Klima, Darren McCarty and Sean Burr and journeyman NHL alum and former Michigan State Spartan Bryan Smolinski.

Moose captain Derek Fowler, who founded his team in 2002, is a Canton resident and took a moment after his team's hard-fought game to wish Plymouth and Canton residents a good morning while at a post-game reception at Kickers All Star Grill in Canton.

Stay tuned today for video and coverage of the weekend fundraiser.
