My dad, Harold Behler, passed away several years ago but he remins fresh in my memory. My parents moved to Plymouth in the early 1920s from Port Huron. Dad started Plymouth Dairy in the mid-1920s at a location on Harvey St. which is now the parking lot across from Plymouth Community Credit Union. In about 1930 they moved the dairy to a small building behind a home still standing on the northwest corner of Ann Arbor Trail and Hamilton St. I was born in that house. The business was a victim of the Great Depression and dad eventually closed the doors and sold the business to the new business called Cloverdale Dairy. After working for Cloverdale on Ann Arbor Trail just west of the old Mayflower Hotel, Swansons Firestone located just west of Cloverdale on Ann Arbor Trail and Saxton's Garden Center, he ended up working for Twin Pines Dairy until his death in 1959. Dad knew many people in Plymouth due to his various jobs in town which brought him in contact with the public. Bill Saxton, who just passed away only a few days ago, remembered my dad very well from when he worked for his dad, Dean Saxton, and he frequently told me what a great guy my dad was. My father had several disappointments especially in the employment and business aspects of his life, but he always remained positive and never became bitter. He very rarely used corporal punishement to keep us kids in line, we just loved him and respected him so much we didn't want to disappoint him.

My dad Robert Miller worked for cloverdale's (in Plymouth) for many years and continued eating there for many more. As a child I remember many school tours, picking up milk from the drive through window, dixie cups for my birthday parties and dad screen printing the weekly sale signs in our basement. But my favorite memory as I got older was knowing right where to find dad whenever I came to town. He would be sitting on a counter stool drinking coffee and chatting with his old cronies, but when he saw us we would move to a booth and he would buy me a coffee ice cream (my favorite) and my brother a milkshake. I'd love to find some old pictures of the place, especially if they were from the late 50's - early 70's. It broke my heart when it turned into a restaurant, (asian if I recall) an american icon lost forever (at least in my world).
