I-96 Shooting Suspect Raulie Casteel was deemed competent to stand trial on terrorism and other charges at the Livingston County 53rd District Court on Wednesday, according to MLive.com.

Casteel, 43, is accused of a string of 24 shootings along the Interstate 96 corridor in October.

Casteel faces charges of felony terrorism, assault with intent to murder and felony firearms. The first two charges are punishable by up to life in prison, while the firearm charges range from punishments of 2 to 5 years in prison. The case is being prosecuted by Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette for Livingston, Shiawassee and Ingham counties.

Casteel is scheduled for a similar competency hearing in Oakland County on Thursday, where Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper will prosecute the case.

Casteel was taken into custody on Oct. 17 by Michigan State Police troopers and Task Force members.
