Long-Standing Relationship With Customers Keeps Prielipp Farms A Market Staple
Mark Prielipp has been making the weekly trek from Britton to Plymouth for more than 30 years — partly because of the people he encounters.
Just like with any farm, Mark Prielipp has experienced his share of mixed results over the years.
There are growing seasons that are picture perfect and others - like this year - when he found himself fighting Mother Nature almost every step of the way.
But that hasn't stopped Prielipp Farms, based in Britton, from maintaining a long-standing relationship with the Plymouth Farmers Market for more than 30 years.
So what keeps one of the market's orginal tenants coming back year after year?
"The customers, of course," Prielipp says, cracking a smile.
Prielipp has been farming his entire life, growing up in an environment he has made his livelihood from. He maintains a 3,000-acre farm that he runs with his family, producing a variety of crops from corn to tomatoes, melons and soy beans.
But the bounty he brings to Plymouth each week is often dependent on the kind of season he's been forced to deal with.
This year's growing season was a mixed bag.
"It was so wet and then so dry - hot and dry," he said.
Still, as he done every year since 1980, Prielipp offers what he can, glad for another season of selling to customers he's come to count on over the past three decades.

The Plymouth Farmer's Market operates from May-October and runs from 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. each Saturday at The Gathering in downtown Plymouth.
