The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Canton Township Police were patrolling near the 51000 block of Mott when they observed a driver not wearing a seatbelt in a silver Honda coming eastbound and turning into a trailer park, according to a police report.

When police made contact with the driver, an officer noticed what appeared to be a marijuana joint on the driver’s door armrest. The man initially would not tell police whether it was a marijuana joint or a regular cigarette, telling police his mother gave it to him, the report said. Finally, the man admitted it was marijuana, the report said.

The substance field-tested positive as marijuana, the report said.

Police cited the man on charges of marijuana possession and failing to wear a seatbelt, the report said.

That's a great argument - I assume you're against the sale of alcohol and guns simply because they could be resold to children as well?

I am not sure why he doesn't just get a medical card. It's not like it's hard to get and just so you know... your kids are getting it at school from some other kids parents who grow it in their basement! LOL I actually don't smoke pot nor does my child. I do believe if there is a medical reason, it should be available and I don't begrudge anyone from possessing it. I do however have a problem with them doing it in public or apartment complexes where they are exposing everyone around them to the smoke and effects of it. It really shouldn't be a crime to posses it though. It's a plant.
