The store’s manager told police she had surveillance footage of a woman and a man dressed as a woman entering the store shortly before noon carrying what appeared to be large, empty, purse-like bags, the report indicated.
The manager told police the two went to an area of the store where there were no cameras and left the store seven minutes later with both bags apparently full, the report said.
The manager provided police with a CD copy of the surveillance footage. Police currently do not have suspects or a list of what might have been taken.
Man accused of attempting fraudulent return at Hobby Lobby
Canton Township Police responded Sept. 22 to Hobby Lobby, 42643 Ford Road, for a report of a suspicious situation, according to a police report.
A store employee told police a man walked into the store with a projector and a receipt from Hobby Lobby and told employees he paid cash for the projector an hour prior and wanted to return the item, the report said.
The employees questioned the return and the man left the store with the projector, but left the receipt behind, the report said. Store employees called the Taylor location of the store and employees there indicated the same man had written a check for the item but used a different name, the report said.
When police examined the receipt, it said the item was paid with cash, but it appeared the man had paid with cash on another transaction and cut “cash” from one receipt and taped it onto the receipt for the projector, the report said.
According to the report, the Taylor store is going to file a report with Taylor Police. The Canton store will not file charges, the report said.
