Man Faces Drug Paraphernalia Charges After Allegedly Threatening Ex-Girlfriend
The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
Police met with a woman who told police her ex-boyfriend had threatened her after an argument about his use of narcotics, the police report said.
During the argument, the woman told police, her ex-boyfriend said, “I’ll kill you like that football player did to his girlfriend,” referring to a recent murder-suicide involving NFL player Jovan Belcher.
The woman told police she fled her ex-boyfriend’s silver Dodge Avenger and entered Walmart.
When police were speaking with the woman, her cell phone rang several times, the report said. The woman placed her ex-boyfriend’s call on speaker phone, where police heard him threaten to "bash (the woman's) head in" if he goes to jail.
While interviewing the woman, another officer reported having the man in custody on charges of drug paraphernalia. Police instructed the woman on how to complete a restraining order.
The woman also showed police several threats the man had made against her on Facebook.
