Canton Township will host a camp fair as part of its Summit on the Park open house, dubbed Super Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon.

What kind of camps can you learn about? Day, preschool, sports, special needs, teen, arts, science and education. Here are a few worth checking out:

1. School-based: Plymouth-Canton Community Schools' Kids’ Time Summer Camp hosts children from kindergarten through eighth grade from Wednesday, June 22 through Wednesday Aug. 24, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Prices: $180 for the first child and $162 for each additional child. The theme for this year’s camp, based at Smith Elementary School: “Summer Camp…It’s a Michigan Thing.” Application forms are available at your school’s office; registration starts Monday.

2. Horse Camp: The Maybury Riding Stable in Northville offers camps Tuesdays through Fridays, June through August, from 9 a.m. to noon. Children learn about horse care and ride daily. Pre-registration required with $50.00 deposit, total tuition is $250.

3. Camp Mirage: This Plymouth day camp has added 18 new camps (for a total of 32). Special camps are available for children as young as 4. Activities range from decorating a bedroom to water sports, golf, Harry Potter-related activities and dozens more.

4. Camp A.B.L.E. Children with disabilities can enjoy field trips, games and other activities in two sessions (one runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Summit on the Park and the other runs Tuesday and Thursday at the Cherry Hill School). The day runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Children must be at least 8 but less than 16 years old to participate.

5. Arts Camp: Interlochen Summer Arts Camp in northwest lower Michigan offers a variety of programs for talented children from grades three through 12. Cost depends on which camps are chosen (dance, music, theatre, motion picture, dance, creative writing and general camps are offered), but several scholarship programs are available.
