Republican candidates swept the Plymouth Township Board of Trustees election on Tuesday.

Supervisor Richard Reaume (Republican) retains his seat against independent challenger Richard Sharland; Treasurer Ron Edwards (Republican) defeats Democratic challenger Rita White; Treasurer-elect Nancy Conzelman (Republican) wins unopposed race; Charles Curmi (Republican) returns to the Plymouth Township Board of Trustees after a four-year absence where he will join incumbent Republicans Kay Arnold, Robert Doroshewitz and Michael Kelly. The four Republicans defeated Democrats Alanna Maguire and Joanne Lamar.

With Plymouth Township's results in, Wayne County Commission 10th District race is decided in favor of Republican Shannon Price, who faced Democrat James Amar.

20th District State Representative candidate Tim Roraback (D-Plymouth) also conceded his race to incumbent Rep. Kurt Heise (R-Plymouth). 21st District State Rep. Dian Slavens (D-Canton) declared victory Tuesday over Republican Joe Barnabei of Van Buren.

3:17 a.m.

Democrat Steven Sneideman and Republican Thomas Yack will join incumbent Republicans Pat Williams and John Anthony on the Canton Township Board of Trustees, according to unofficial election results from the township.

With all precincts counted, Sneideman was the top vote-getter. Incumbent Greg Demopoulos failed to retain his seat by a narrow margin against the fourth-place Anthony.

Sneideman declared victory Tuesday at Canton Coney Island, thanking his supporters and family.

1:15 a.m.

The race for Canton Township Board of Trustees remains too close to call with all but two precincts reporting.

With 51 of 52 precincts reporting, the only candidate who appears safe is Democrat Steven Sneideman, who currently holds a sizable lead over the rest of the field, according to unofficial township results as of 1:15 a.m.

Sneideman, the former Plymouth-Canton school board president, has 22,234 votes for about 22.04 percent of the electorate. He is followed by:

• Thomas Yack (Republican): 19,535, 19.37 percent
• Pat Williams (Republican): 19,387, 19.22 percent
• John Anthony (Republican): 19,303, 19.14 percent
• Gregory Demopoulos (Republican): 19,247, 19.08 percent

8:06 p.m.

6:45 p.m.

Voting is steady at the Plymouth Cultural Center, 525 Farmer St., in the City of Plymouth. All four of the city's precincts use the center as its polling place. Currently the building is about equally full of voters and hockey parents utilizing the Plymouth Cultural Center ice rink. Police outside are directing traffic in and out of the parking lot. 

Outside, Rep. Kurt Heise (R-Plymouth) and his opponent, Tim Roraback (D-Plymouth) are appealing for late votes, while Wayne County Commission candidate Shannon Price's wife, Jacki, and daughter, Maddie, wave signs supporting his candidacy. 

City Manager Paul Sincock says voting has been steady but orderly throughout the day, with the biggest rush coming in the morning. 

In Canton, Democratic campaign workers are phone banking and canvassing in support of Democratic candidates at the Western Wayne County Democrats' office and nearby Canton Coney Island.

4 p.m.

The wait to vote at local polling places has drastically decreased since this morning, when voters reported on our Facebook page that waits were exceeding one hour. 

Chassidy Jamnick and her mother, Sherry Sweeney, both of Canton, said they waited two hours at Tyler Road Elementary School in Belleville before realizing they had the wrong polling location.

They ended up finding the correct spot, Summit on the Park, the polling place for four precincts. Lines at the Summit appeared to be moving briskly. 

1:57 p.m.

11:30 a.m.

Plymouth Township Clerk Joe Bridgman, who was at his polling place at Fiegel Elementary, reports that 3,181 ballots have been cast in Plymouth Township as of counts taken at 10:30 a.m. today.

9:25 a.m.

Candidates on the local, county, state and federal level have made their final appeals to potential voters, who take to the polls today to decide their next leaders.
