Presidents' Day Closings, 'Book Thief' and a Budget Tweak
Canton Township's board of trustees will add nearly $2 million to the 2011 budget.

- Closed: Canton Township administrative offices are closed today for Presidents' Day, as are banks and the post office. Plymouth-Canton and Van Buren schools are on winter break.
- Canton Public Library is open, and will host a librarian-led adult contemporary book discussion on The Book Thief by Markus Zsak in the Purple Room from 7 to 9 p.m. today. No registration necessary.
- Summit on the Park is open and if you are looking for a 100 Days to Health class, check out the Zumba Gold (for ages 50 and over) at 12:30 p.m. in the aerobic studio.
- Canton Township's board of trustees are scheduled to meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. and will consider amending the 2011 budget to include nearly $2 million in 2010 expenses. The board is also slated to honor township building official John Weyer, who recently rectived the 2010 Thomas Ricketts Award from the Southeast Michigan Building Industry Association.
- Four performances remain for the Spotlight Players' production of Harvey: Friday at 8 p.m., Saturdat at 2 and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill.
