Ready for Christmas? Five Places to Sip and Sup
Most eateries are closed on Dec. 25, but if you must venture out for fuel, here's a hint: Fortune cookies and a couple of chain restaurants will save the day.
Just about everyone is open Christmas Eve, but the real challenge is who is open Christmas Day. Sure, your corner 7-11 will never let you down when you're seeking a last-minute carton of half-and-half, but what if you seek a bit more than a quick dash in and out of a shop?
Here are some places that will be open Christmas Day.
44681 Ann Arbor Road, Plymouth
If you need to get out, perhaps for an omelette or burger, consider a stop at our old checker-overalled friend. The eatery will be open 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Christmas Day, so you never have to go without a Slim Jim.
44290 Cherry Hill, Canton
When the neighbor's dogs devoured the turkey in "A Christmas Story," the family opted to dine at a Chinese restaurant. That logic sticks: Chin Express is open from 3-8 p.m. Christmas Day. They offer classic Chinese fare, from fried rice to egg rolls, General Tso's Chicken to vegetarian options.
3500 N. Lilley Road, Canton
The Chopstick House is open noon-10 p.m. Christmas Day. Stop in for Peking Duck, beef with broccoli, vegetarian and light options, and plenty more.
39550 Ann Arbor Road East, Plymouth
Denny's will be open all day, sticking to its 24-hour schedule, so whether you need something at 4 a.m. or 4 p.m. or a late-night pick-me-up, there you go.
5848 N. Sheldon Road, Canton
If you can't decide exactly what you'd like, a buffet won't let you down. Ruby Buffet, with Chinese dishes, sushi, and a few American and Italian offerings, should please a variety of palates. And there's a dessert bar, too. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Christmas Day.
Now we know this is a list of only five. If you feel a restaurant deserves a shout-out as a place to nosh on Christmas Day, by all means, share in the comments section below.
