Special Farmers Markets Get Canton Through Winter
The next Winter Farmers Market is Sunday.
Farmers markets aren't only for summer. Market-goers can find their favorite products year-round at special Winter Farmers Markets at Preservation Park in Canton.
The first was in February but shoppers can look forward to one 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday and another April 21. Vendors will be set up in the rustic pre-Civil War-era non-heated Cady-Boyer Barn, 500 North Ridge Road in Preservation Park.
There will be 18 local food growers and producers. Canton Chef Paul Penney kicked off February's Winter Market with a special cooking demonstration.
"We're very pleased to be able to operate three markets during the winter months that provide vendors with the opportunity to sell their locally grown products directly to market-goers," said Canton Farmers Market Manager Tina Lloyd.
Market-goers can find farm fresh produce grown in hoop houses, farm eggs, smoked fish, honey, canned sauerkraut, popcorn kernels, specialty locally roasted coffee beans, sauces, baked goods including low sugar and gluten-free, jam, granola, natural anti-biotic free meats, conventional meats, artisan cheese, hand blended teas, handcrafted soap and more.
