Woman Accused of Shoplifting Earrings From Walmart in Canton
The following information was provided by the Canton Township and Plymouth Township police departments. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
Police met with the store’s loss prevention officer, who told police she saw the woman walking out of the jewelry department removing earrings from a package, the report said. The loss prevention officer told police she then saw the woman walk into the men’s department and conceal the jewelry in her left front pants pocket, the report said.
The loss prevention officer told police that she and her colleague stopped the woman as she was leaving the store and escorted the woman back to their office.
The woman told police she saw jewelry “that was pretty” and knew she couldn’t afford it, but wanted it and decided to take it, the report said.
Police arrested the woman on charges of third-degree retail fraud with a Sept. 26 court date.
Woman reports break-ins to two vehicles
Plymouth Township Police responded Sept. 8 to the 8000 block of Haggerty Road for a report of items taken from two vehicles, according to a police report.
The vehicle owner told police both of her vehicles had been broken into the night before, including a 2006 Dodge Status and 2001 Dodge Caravan, the report said.
In the Dodge Stratus, the woman reported a missing Garmin-brand GPS, socks, jeans, a blue sweater and miscellaneous paperwork. From the Dodge Caraven, the woman reported her vehicle registration stolen, the report said.
Police were unable to find damage or fingerprints and have no suspects in the case, the report said.
