Margaret Dunning's Model A Pickup Featured in Plymouth Historical Museum Exhibit

"Made in America" will run through June 9 at the Plymouth Historical Museum.

As the Plymouth Historical Museum's benefactress, 102-year-old Margaret Dunning has never had one of cars featured in an exhibit before now.  Museum Executive Director Elizabeth Kerstens said she was amazed to discover that.  Dunning, who built the museum and its addition, owns a classic car collection that includes a prized 1930 Packard 740 roadster that she exhibited at Plymouth's Concours d'Elegance event in 2011 and a 1931 Ford Model A Pickup that is currently the centerpiece of the Plymouth Historical Museum's "Made in America" exhibit.  The pickup was made during the last two weeks of production for that model, according to Kerstens.  "It's been hers (Dunning's) for about 40 years," Kerstens said. "And it's an original - it's not …

"Sisterhood" will be featured as the Front Wall Exhibit during the month of April.

Local Girl Scout Cadets will have their artwork featured as part of "Sisterhood," the Plymouth Community Art Council's (PCAC) new Front Wall Exhibit this month.  Girl Scout Cadet Troop 40844, based in Northville, includes 23 seventh through ninth graders from a myriad of local schools in Northville and Livonia. Troop Leader Christina Kowalczyk said her troop chose the theme of Sisterhood because they are currently working on their Sisterhood Journey. “This is the first step toward getting their Gold Award, which is the highest award in Girl Scouting - equivalent to the Boy Scout Eagle Award," Kowalczyk said in a news release. Film with Plymouth ties draws sold-out crowd at Penn Theatre.

A sold-out crowd packed the Penn Theatre on Friday for the premiere of Love and Honor, a Vietnam-era romance written by Plymouth Township-based scribe Jim Burnstein and inspired by Plymouth Mayor Pro Tem Mike Wright's experience going AWOL. The film—which was Michigan-written, directed and filmed—made its video on demand premiere on Feb. 14. Friday marked the film's theatrical release in select cities around the world.  For those unable to secure a ticket to the Plymouth premiere, Love and Honor will have its opening weekend at Emagine Novi beginning March 29. 'Love and Honor' Film Adapts City Official's Experience Going AWOL

Film, which premieres Friday at the Penn Theatre, stars Liam Hemsworth as character based on Plymouth Mayor Pro Tem Mike Wright.

Plymouth Mayor Pro Tem Mike Wright has a word of caution for anyone who is an acquaintance of his friend Jim Burnstein, a screenwriter from Plymouth Township whose credits include Renaissance Man and D3: The Mighty Ducks. "Be careful what you tell him, because you have no idea where it's going to end up," Wright said.  For Wright, a story he told Burnstein of going AWOL while serving in Vietnam sparked Burnstein's next movie idea: A story about two soldiers who flee to Michigan in the midst of the Vietnam War. Love and Honor, the byproduct of Wright's story, premieres theatrically following a 7:15 p.m. engagement Friday at a sold-out Penn Theatre. The film premiered in February on video on demand services nationwide and will open …
