What we have here, is a failure to communicate. I take some blame for that. It seems that I have failed to properly communicate the facts to folks about the antics of our elected officials, because if everybody knew about their antics, they would never get reelected. So I shoulder some blame for this obvious failure in communication, because as we all know by now, they got elected again.
Before I start on the individual races, I would like to thank everybody for the unbelievable outpouring of comments for myself. What? They are not nice comments? Yikes, maybe I should read more of them before I go thanking everybody, but at least it is nice to know that I have managed to spend some quality time in folk's minds, even if they don't exactly like me.
Anyway, on to the races.
Mr. Richard Reaume, our dapper and fearless leader, cleaned himself off after his dumpster dive, and won in a landslide, even though he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and exposed on Channel 7 Action News. Actually, his hand wasn't so much in a cookie jar, but rather, was wrapped around Rita White's campaign signs, which apparently in Plymouth Township earns you some sort of political merit badge. Richard will be compensated somewhere in the neighborhood of a half million dollars if you include bennies over the duration of his next term.
Then there is Ron "The Don" Edwards, whose biggest fan today is, well, himself, if you read the comments from "Ocelot Madness" (I promise more on that another day.) Big Ronnie won his race 9394 to 6299, which was considerably closer than Richie's race, but a very comfortable margin just the same. It had to feel much better for him than the 400 vote nail biter he had against Ed Schulz in the primary.
Big Ronnie of course, is our resident YouTube sensation, well known by the folks at Channel 7, and also at Channel 4. While King Ritchie is catching up in the YouTube department, I have a strong feeling that our very own Teflon Ron, being the competitive guy that he is, will not let Ritchie take away his crown.
Another roughly half million tater tots from the taxpayers for Big Ronnie's salary and benefits over the course of his term. *This dollar amount of course is contingent on the FBI not showing up and perp walking Ron out of the Township Hall at some point in the next four years.
As far as the Trustees race went, Kay Arnold ran the table on everybody, and it is my guess that she will sit on the board for as long as she chooses. I will say this about her. She is smart, and ran a quietly efficient campaign. She didn't have to really get into the verbal fray, and to her credit, she didn't. She probably ran the most cost effective campaign of any of the winners if sign count is any measure.
Michael Kelly was returned to the Board of Trustees, finishing in the final spot, and this was a bit of a surprise to me. I am not sure why folks bother voting for the guy, as he never has, and I suspect never will, express an opinion on anything. Seriously, I have seen more expression from a corpse.
Maybe in his next four years Mr. Kelly will actually say something other than "yay" or "nay." I seriously doubt it, but one can hope for change right? I know, a lot of us hoped for change in the Presidential election and didn't get it, but I digress.
I won't lie, I wonder how the members of this Board of Trustees voted in the Presidential race? Again, I digress.
Bumbling Bobby Doroshewitz (Door-shev-its) returns for another term, and I won't lie, this one is not really killing me. This man is a wealth of blogging fun, and although we don't exactly like each other, and he lies and cheats, and picks on girls at debates, it will at least be worth having him around for comedic relief. He can't really hurt anything, because nobody actually listens to him anyway. Congrats Bobby Esq.
So Steve Mann is replaced by Chuck Curmi. This shall be interesting for me. Chuck is making a return engagement to the Board of Trustees, and all of my conservative friends give him very high marks. I have actually seen Mr. Curmi significantly raise the blood pressure of King Richard, and Boss Hogg Edwards at a public meeting, so I have high hopes for the gentleman.
I found it interesting that Mr. Curmi got more votes than Mr. Doroshewitz, and Mr. Kelly, so right out of the gate, he rises above those two on the Trustee Food Chain. Don't think for one minute that was not noticed by the rest of the clique either.
This brings me to my favorite candidate of the whole race, and that is Alanna Maguire. She didn't win, but she worked as hard as humanly possible. It has been a wonderful experience meeting this young lady, as well as her mom, Mary. Plymouth Township residents deserved to have a voice like Alanna's represent them. Plymouth Township residents lost far more than Ms. Maguire with the results of this race.
I can assure you that there was nobody that worked harder than Alanna in this race. In my opinion, she wanted it more than any of the Trustee candidates, and she wanted it for all the right reasons.
If Alanna Maguire is a true representative of our next generation, I have great hope for our nation's future. She may be affiliated with a different political party than I, but that is ok, she is a good and decent person, and I have no doubt that she will do great things in the future. Alanna is the kind of girl that every parent wants their son to marry. That is the best way I can describe Alanna Maguire. It is truly an honor for me to be able to call her a friend.
I would also like to congratulate Mary Maguire (Alanna's Mom) on her win for the Plymouth District Library Board. I promise that $1.40 we talked about, the $1.40 I owe for late fees will be paid before the end of the week! Mary Maguire will suffer no library scofflaws! All kidding aside, Mary is another good and decent American who I had the pleasure of meeting, and who I hope to become lifelong friends with.
I was also blessed to meet a great conservative Republican in Mr. Richard Sharland. He was the only lifelong Republican in the Supervisor race. Mr. Sharland is a true gentleman, and a man from the days of our Greatest Generation. He is a guy who can sit and tell you fascinating stories about Plymouth's history, as well as America's history. I consider it an honor to call Mr. Sharland a friend.
In the end, the results of the election are what they are. I can't say that I am happy about them, but they turned out pretty much the way I thought they would. I stood by my principles, and fought the fight I felt I should fight. As long as one does that, they have no reason for a long face. I go back to the famous quote. "The people get the government they deserve."
For those who are out there gloating, and hoping that I somehow need to be talked off the 275 bridge, I hate to disappoint you, but no, I am just fine. Finer than frog's hair to put a point on it.
You see, I made some great friendships that I never would have made had I not started writing a blog about the Board Of Trustees, and that is a great thing. Those folks may have won their seats on the board, but I feel like I was the big winner. I was the one who got to meet so many good and decent people.
So it's on to other things for me, and like most folks, I have many other things to worry about. I have a date with my back surgeon coming soon, and I'll be honest here, that is taking up way more space in my brain today than the likes of Big Ron or King Richard. I will make it a point to pass on my room number at the U of M Hospital in case Ocelot, Don, Peter Cottontail, Nuffsaid, or any of my many other fans want to send flowers or gift baskets. :)
Folks will most likely see a lot less of me now, unless Doro spits out something too priceless to ignore, and in closing, to those who have said kind things to me about my blogs, I would like to thank you, and for those who have said, and will soon say unkind things to me about my blog, I would like to thank you as well...

Please don't stop attending Board Of Trustee meetings. The information you have provided to residents like myself was priceless, however it is unfortunate that the majority of Township voters have no clue of the misdeeds that our elected officials do. Bryan you have truly been a blessing, in your ability to convey, with great emotion, and passion what's going on in the township. God Bless you my son, you are an angel. Please don't disappear, the patch would be void with the absence your blogs.

McKay, that is rich. You leave up all of Bentley's hate blogs , but take down comments that might hurt him. You left up Bentley's/aka Good and Evil comment that "Ron is a mad man". Isn't that name calling? Bentley's hate blogs are filled with namecalling. Why is Bentley the only one allowed to spew hate and call people names? Everyone knows you and Bentley are friends and next door neighbors, but until you recognize your bias, you can't call yourself a journalist.

ihatecarpetbaggers,
There are a few factors at play here:
First, from our Terms of Use:
While we encourage people to be honest and post what’s on their mind, communities thrive when people care about each other, and as such, Patch expects all of its users to be respectful of others. This means that whether you are being complimentary or critical, whether you are agreeing or disagreeing with the subject of an article or another user’s comment, you should act in a civil manner and refrain from personal attacks – after all, these are your neighbors...

You gotta be kidding us, McKay. For months you sat by and watched while your apartment neighbor and friendspit vile filth at people and you did nothing. Now that your candidates lost it's, "Hey everybody, let's play nice". And yes, folks McKay and Bentley share an apartment building. Nice thing about your job is you never have to do any actual work, Bently provides the filth and Other newspapers write the stories and you just republish them.

Patch is under no obligation to enforce the Patch Terms of Use on your behalf or based on a claim by you that another user has violated it. While we encourage you to let us know if you believe that another user has violated these terms of use or has engaged in other unacceptable behavior, by reporting it to support@patch.com, Patch will make the sole determination as to whether Content is acceptable for the Service. (Someone has to be in charge, right?) Because Patch provides a platform for wide-ranging commentary – both positive and negative – by members of local communities, you should keep in mind that, even if you disagree with or object to a comment or review, Patch typically does not remove comments or reviews in response to requests from users. Patch’s role is not to arbitrate disagreements between community members and local businesses, or among community members. And (for the lawyers out there) the law doesn’t require us to perform that role in order to keep offering what we think is a valuable community service: providing a platform for community discussion, debate and expression of opinions on the topics at hand.

Secondly,
Your comment was flagged by another user as inappropriate. We reviewed it and agreed. It disclosed sensitive information about an uninvolved third party.
When reviewing that comment, I also saw Good vs. Evil's comment, which also disclosed sensitive information about an uninvolved third party.
Both comments did not meet the standard which discourages material that "violates any party’s right of publicity or right of privacy"
John McKay

Thirdly,
Please be aware that public officials are knowingly held to a higher level of scrutiny than private citizens. We can't always moderate what one puts into their blog entries or comments, but if we catch items that cross the lines of good taste or come off as personal attacks (versus criticizing their actions), we'll do our best to moderate it.
Lastly,
Bryan Bentley uses his actual name with his blog posts and comments. You used that information to post an off-topic personal attack against the user (and third parties related to the user but uninvolved with the conversation), all while writing under a false alias. The alias protects you from any sort of backlash, so allowing ad hominem attacks from an alias isn't really fair, is it? I concur with your note about Good vs. Evil's "mad man" comment and that has since been deleted.

Bryan's attempt to influence the local election in Plymouth Township failed miserably - he may have indeed swayed votes to those candidates he was desperate to unseat.
Do you want to know why, Bryan? Because you come off as someone that needs to have people think that you are smarter and more connected than the rest of us. Because you write "opinion" pieces, but then shout down, demean and bully those people that do not share your view. Because you fail to understand that people vote with different ideas, standards, morals and objectives than you do. Because you repeatedly endorsed candidates without telling us why they were qualified (or why their track record would suggest their ability) to do a better job.
And perhaps more than anything Bryan, and this is where it gets personal for me, you failed because you don't understand that being a Republican candidate does not automatically qualify a candidate to be the best candidate. I know you endorsed a Democrat, because you had to in your vendetta against Township Hall, but you failed to understand the changing demographics of national, and even local politics, and you failed to understand that "YOUR" party is making itself smaller by splintering into moderate vs. extreme (tea party) views. Finally, you failed to understand that many people do not see a place for party politics in community government. You're old school.
You may try, but you can't counter any of this Bryan - the votes have made my case.

I find it interesting that Bryan slams all the members of the Board of Trustees, yet I bet he has not talked directly to most of them. He does not know them at all. He leaves Arnold alone since she is quiet and the elder of the board as I think she is in her 6th or 7th term. Kelly is also quiet, but since he is new member, Bryan does not like that (double standard). Door-shew- its does rant and act up so I cant argue that one. Reaume is very professional, and takes lots of abuse from residents ( the same 10) at the meetings. Ron does mumble, and he needs to act nicer and maybe people would not be so critical. Bryan loves Allanna, and she worked him for publicity as she should, but don't be so shallow and not see that's all it is. Allanna is probably a nice person, but so is everyone else on the board. They may just be tired of Bryan's constant hatred aimed at them. But in all honestly, I doubt if any of them even bother reading the one sided hate blogs on the Patch.
So, other that some personal traits Bryan does not like, what real negative items have the Board of Trustees actually done? Nothing criminal ( maybe the signgate with Reaume) no FBI investigation, etc. . Lets all clear the slate for the board as they start their terms on 11-20 and try to work as one community, not try to divide the community. We are all in this together.

Mr. Wellborn,
I feel like I need to correct the record here. Bryan Bentley is my friend and the idea that I played him for publicity is ludicrous. I don't need or want publicity. I genuinely wanted to make a positive contribution to my community which is why I ran for office. The voters decided otherwise and I understand and respect that. I congratulate those candidates who were elected and hope that they take this opportunity to reflect on how best to serve ALL of the citizens of Plymouth Township and that includes Mr. Bentley. Let's all try to be a litter nicer to one another.

I love the fair and balanced comment of Mr Shulz. Anytime someone makes a factual comment, they are cronies of the board. All Patch does is give a forum to paranoid bloggers who spread their venom of hate.

Excuse me...while I regain my composure......okay I'm done laughing. What a crock! If any one is interested in Mr. Schulz's previous comments to see how "friendly" they are just click on his name and then on "comments" on the sidebar. I think you'll be quite entertained. Mr. McKay has demonstrated absolutely no intention (until now, of course, and that will be short-lived when Cryin' Bryan and and Sergeant "I see nothing" Schulz get ranting again) of keeping anything civil on these blogs or comments on articles. I suspect it's because of the cozy relationship between the three of them. I would never use my real name to comment because frankly I believe at least two of the above mentioned are a bit wacked and publicly admitted substance abusers. But then again, McKay could always fill them in on id's and probably does. But that would be unethical if not criminal, wouldn't it?

" Patch’s role is not to arbitrate disagreements between community members and local businesses, or among community members. Also, please refer to our privacy policy: http://plymouth-mi.patch.com/privacy
I don't divulge personally identifiable information to anyone outside of Patch, and the information we personally have access to is limited.
As for being "cozy," one blogger happens to be my neighbor, sure, and I have never met the other in person. It doesn't mean I treat them any differently than I would anyone else. If you wanted to blog using your real name (the only requirement to do so), you'd be afforded the same platform as everyone else.
For the most part, I choose to not get involved with any community debate on here unless someone flags something as inappropriate or reports something to me that they would like reviewed, which is what led to the removal of the aforementioned comments.

The title of this article should be "Did Alanna Maguire Just Commit Political Suicide?" I really thought she had a good chance of winning and was going to vote for her until it came out she hangs out with a coke addict that destroyed his life and his family with drugs and the guy that got super loaded, wrecked his car and then lied to the police and the judge about it and doesn't seem to have any remorse for that.

To those who say I slam the Board of Trustees, and spew hate towards them, you are right. When Ron Edwards stiffs a small businesswoman out of over $400 then magically comes up with a 3 year old tax bill the exact same day he loses to her in court, I hate that kind of bullying behavior, and I'll slam it. When Ron Edwards bullies a cop on the 911 emergency line because he can't get out of the fireworks quick enough? Yeah I'll slam that behavior. When Richard Reaume distorts his military record? I'll slam that behavior. When Richard Reaume steals campaign signs, I'll slam that behavior. When Richard Reaume blatently lies about a colleague's record to wreck his career, I'll slam that behavior.
To those of you who have used my past against me, that's fine, I was very open about it, and your comments only make me stronger. I will not however, give up my right to speak my opinion because of something I did, and got over 6 years ago. SIX YEARS!
I have been more open about my life than some anonymous commenters are currently being about their lives, and I would warn folks not to cast stones when you have skeletins in your own closet, because you never know when they might emerge.
In closing: When you cast stones while hiding behind the cover of a fake name, your opinion means less than nothing to me, as only a coward does such a thing...
Bryan Bentley

The funny thing is that nobody challenges what Ron Edwards did to Susan Dillon of Graphic Visions. Nobody, including Ron has denied that he did it. So those supporting him must support that behavior. Those who support Ron must support the way he treats the police.
Those who support Reaume must be ok with the lie he made. They must be ok with him embarrassingly getting caught stealing campaign signs. Distorting his military and political record.
Nobody has yet told me that I am a liar. That what I have said is not true. Reaume has even admitted some of it after I exposed him.
So basically I have told the truth, and been slammed, my family brought into it, and yet not one single solitary fact I have provided about these guy's antics, has been challenged. People have called me everything under the Sun, but nobody can call me a liar. Nobody has proved me wrong.
Why is that?
Because my facts are correct!
My facts are correct, and those who slam me must support that behavior.
Lying, stealing, distorting, and bullying.
