Axis Music Students Sing U.S. and Canadian National Anthems at Plymouth Whalers Game

Axis Music Academy students performed Christmas carols and U.S. and Canadian national anthems at Plymouth Whalers game on Saturday, December 10th.

On Saturday, December 10th, Axis Music Academy sponsored "Girls Rock Night" at Compuware Arena when the Plymouth Whalers hosted the Sarnia Sting. The Axis Glee Club entertained patrons with renditions of Christmas carols as they entered the arena before the game. Their performance was in conjuction with Salvation Army greeters who were collecting donations in the concourse area. The Glee Club members were excited to perform, as well as attract donors for The Salvation Army.

Axis Music was also proud to have two of our students perform renditions of the U.S. and Canadian national anthems. Brittany Matthews provided a spectacular version of Oh, Canada with Lauren Howard following that up with her own splendid take on The Star Spangled Banner. Video for Lauren's performance can be viewed at the link below:

After the pre-game entertainment, the Whalers organization was gracious enough to provide both our students and their families with free tickets for the game.

During intermission and play stoppages, Axis held interactive activities and giveaways for fans in attendance. Among these were a Lucky Row Giveaway, a T-shirt Toss, and a Free Lesson Sweepstakes. However, the highlight of the giveaways was the Air Guitar Competition held during the 1st period intermission. Six girls channeled their inner '80's rock star and put their best air guitar on display. Shooter, the Whalers mascot, eliminated the girls one at a time until only Ashley Rackley remained. For her rockin' efforts, Ashley was rewarded with a free lesson pass to try out a free lesson at our academy.

Our staff, students, and those in attendance had an amazing time at the game. To top off all the great things that went on both before and during the game, the Whalers defeated Sarnia 4-1!
