Betsy DeVos, GLEP endorse Fausone in key 21st District race

Betsy DeVos, a strong advocate for education, and the Great Lakes Educational Project (GLEP), have endorsed Carol Ann Fausone in her targeted race in the 21st District, which includes Canton, Belleville, and Van Buren.

“Carol Ann Fausone is the best candidate in this election hands down,” said DeVos, also a current member on GLEP’s Board of Directors and Chair of the American Federation for Children. “Her 36 year résumé of service and leadership experience will make her an outstanding advocate for her community and our children.”

Fausone is one of GLEP’s first candidates without a primary to be endorsed. “We’re confident Carol Ann Fausone will be a forceful advocate for expanding quality choices in education while demanding transparency and high standards,” said Beth DeShone, GLEP Advocacy Director.

GLEP is a bi-partisan advocacy organization supporting quality choices in education.

“These endorsements are very meaningful because they reflect my passion for a critical issue facing our state: education,” said Fausone. “We cannot continue Michigan’s comeback without investing in our students and giving them a fair shake at a quality, affordable education.”

Fausone herself is active in the education field. She serves on the Board of Trustees for Madonna University in Livonia and the Advisory Board for the University of Michigan School of Nursing, both of her alma maters. Fausone’s husband, Jim, also serves as a Trustee at Schoolcraft College in Livonia.

“Carol Ann Fausone is a very strong candidate who believes government should be more accountable, efficient and responsive,” said Gary Naeyaert, GLEP Executive Director.  “This election provides a very clear choice, and we believe when voters examine her background and get to know Ms. Fausone they will vote to send her to Lansing,” Naeyaert continued.
