Giggles Galore for Kids of All Ages!
Delight the children in your life with this new musical version of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves,” written by Bob Hubley and Ross Modlin, presented by Spotlight on Youth, March 13, 15-16. This charming new musical showcases a sweet, light and humorous take on the Grimm classic not to be confused with the much loved – and sometimes frightening for children – Disney version. Reserve your seats now, 1 week-end only on the Main Stage at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton. This show is approximately 1.5 hours in length, plus an intermission, perfect for little ones who can’t sit still long!
Using the original dwarf names from the Grimm classic tale, kids will love Snow White’s pals: Sunny, Stormy, Mushroom, Starshine, Cloudy, Windy and Dirt. Toe-tappin’ songs include: “It’s a Brand New Day,” “We Dance to the Music,” “The Perfect Disguise” and “You’re So Pretty.” Ashlyn McCann of Canton plays the Queen and Zoe Stirret of Canton plays Snow White. Over 30 children make up the cast from Livonia, Westland, Belleville, Romulus, Canton and Plymouth.
Adding to the merriment, adorable forest animals narrate the show. Plus, the audience will have humorous encounters with Old King Cole, Mother Goose, Little Red Riding Hood, the Big Bad Wolf, the Three Pigs and The Old Woman and the Shoe and ALL of her children.
Director Barbara Bloom describes it this way:
“This version is meant to be light-hearted and entertaining for the whole family! The Queen moves her wacky and messy 2 sisters - Hoighty-Toighty and Fru-Fru- into the palace. They are as goofy and un-kept as the Queen is evil and well-kept. This Queen is played with more humor and in the end she is turned into thousands of snowflakes and is ‘blown’ off the stage by all the actors!”
