Plymouth-Canton Montessori School Hosts Summer Camp for Children

Plymouth-Canton Montessori School offers an exciting Summer Camp program with creative and fun themes introduced each week.  The nine-week summer day camp is available for children between the ages of three and six years.  Located on the school’s campus at 45245 Joy Road in Canton, summer camp begins June 16 and ends August 15, 2014.

Children have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of projects that include arts and crafts, science experiments, dramatic play, cooking, picnics, outdoor time, music, stories and games.

Summer campers enjoy water day each week, weekly in-house presentations, and occasional off-site field trips. Snacks are provided along with a summer camp T-shirt.

Among the hands-on and fun-filled activities, campers will learn about cooking and healthy eating from Diane Cook and her daughter Emily. Patsy Girnys, director of the Shoe-String Theatre Co., will also help children perform a play.  Other weekly themes and summer camp forms are available on the school’s website at www.pcmontessori.org.

“This program is especially designed to meet the developmental needs of young children,” said Linda Myers, summer camp director.  “We have an experienced and caring staff of early childhood educators who give our young campers a wonderful balance of learning and play.

Full and half-day programs are available for nine weeks of the summer session.  Day camp meets from 8:45 to 11:45 a.m., Monday through Friday.  Extended hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. are available as needed for day campers.  Children must be enrolled in day camp for a minimum of three weeks.

For children who will begin Montessori classes for the first time in September, the school offers a “Montessori Matters” introductory class during the week of August 11, introducing them to basic materials and routines to smooth the way for the start of school.
