Final Days for School Supplies Drive

These are the final days for Plymouth Community United Way's Back-to-School Supplies Drive for not only backpacks and supplies but new socks and underwear as well.

This year, Plymouth Community United Way (PCUW) is partnering with local businesses and churches. Items can be dropped off through Aug. 23 at Walmart #5761, 45555 Michigan Ave., Canton, and HealthSource Chiropractic, 42875 Five Mile, Plymouth, and the PCUW office at 960 W. Ann Arbor Trail, Suite 2, in Plymouth from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, Aug. 19-21, and Monday, Aug. 26.

For more information, call (734) 453-6879, ext. 7 or email randi.williams@pcuw.org.

"There are over 3300 students in the area who could benefit from this drive," said Marie Morrow, PCUW President. "It is a good way to help youth get a head start in September.

It’s not unusual for low-income students to come to class without a pencil or pen to write, according to a local school teacher.

Plymouth Community United Way is trying to make sure less fortunate children are ready to learn by holding the Back-to-School Supplies Drive. Morrow suggests parents purchase a few extra school supplies while shopping for their children and drop them off at one of the above locations.
