1. Canton Township's Backyard Beats once again showcases rockers of the View from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in the Cobblestone Ridge neighborhood's park, just north of Saltz Road, off Kennebec. Bring your own blankets, lawn chairs and water bottles.

2. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 528 host the Cruz'n 528 Car Show, 5 to 8 p.m. today at the VFW Mayflower Lt. Gamble Post 6695, 1426 S. Mill St. (Lilley Rd.), Plymouth.

3. Seniors looking for a mid-day diversion can find two games at the , which is located inside Summit on the Park. From noon to 3:30 p.m. today duplicate bridge games are planned; from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., mahjong is scheduled.

4. Attention, fans of Mr. (or Ms.) Potato Head: will host a potato-head-making session at 7 p.m. today in the Purple Room, using real potatoes. The event is aimed at children ages 5 to 9, who should be accompanied by a caregiver.

5. Gas prices heading into the Fourth of July holiday is $3.49 at the , 45490 Michigan Ave. (at South Canton Center Road) and , 8773 N. Haggerty Rd. (at Joy Road).
