Good Morning, Canton! ~ Mary's Farm Market

For four generations, the Hauk family has sold produce (and Christmas trees!) to families in and around Canton Township.

Mary Hauk bustled around the workroom -- she calls it "Santa's Little Workshop" -- Sunday evening inside the farm market her family has run for 18 years at the corner of Ford and Beck roads. She's quick to note that her family's been in the farm business for four generations.

She was making wreaths, centerpieces, grave blankets and other decorative items, creating ribbons to festoon the greenery and answering questions posed by family and friends who work with her. Outside, a few more employees were waiting to help visitors select Michigan-grown Christmas trees.

Winter hours at the market are 9 a.m to 8 p.m. daily. "No sleep for the weary," Hauk joked, before corralling as many employees as possible for today's greeting.
