Lifetime Fitness Members Make Commitments at Snowy 5K

Before taking off from Grove Street at Grand River, some participants announced 2014 fitness commitments.

An annual New Year's Day 5K sponsored by Lifetime Fitness brought hundreds of committed runners and walkers to downtown Farmington Wednesday, as a light snow fell and the temperature hovered just above 10 degrees.

The group took off from Grand River and Grove Street at 9:30 a.m., then traveled west on Grand River to Farmington Road. At State Street, they began winding through residential streets, then crossed back over Farmington Road and headed to the finish line on Grove.

A group from Team Red, White and Blue, an Ann Arbor non-profit, carried American flags through the route. Team members said the organization's mission is to enrich the lives of veterans through physical and social activities in their communities. Learn more at teamrwb.org
