Here's a look at Veteran's Day events in Washtenaw County over the weekend.

This weekend, many Americans will pause to reflect on the sacrifices of our armed forces as we celebrate Veteran's Day Sunday.

If you're looking for a way to celebrate your loved one this year, here is a roundup of Veteran's Day events in Washtenaw County, ranging from a tribute concert in Saline to a flag raising event at Concordia University.

Saline

Veterans tribute concert

Saline New Horizons Band will perform on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Saline Middle School located at 7190 N. Maple Rd. in Saline. 

For this program, the Saline New Horizon’s Band and Measure for Measure Choral Society will perform patriotic arrangements that are both classic and inspirational.

Ann Arbor

Concordia University

A flag raising event and an Air Force flyover will take place at Concordia University on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include a job fair, scholarships for veterans and many other celebrations. A star can also be purchased in the name of a veteran and will be displayed on the university campus lawn. For more information on purchasing a star visit www.vetsdaycelebration.com. Chelsea

Veteran's Day Ceremony

The City of Chelsea will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony on Sunday at 1 p.m. Veterans Park.

The ceremony will kick-off with a concert performance of "She’s a Grand Old Flag" by students from South Meadows Elementary School. The music will be followed by remarks from James Alford, a local resident and Vietnam War veteran.

Following the tribute, participants can enjoy refreshments and a reception for the screening of a Korean War documentary, which is a collection of perspectives of the war as told by members of the Chelsea community. The screening takes place at 2 p.m. at the Village Conference Center across from the Chelsea Comfort Inn.

Dexter

Veteran's Day Ceremony

The service will take place at 10 a.m. Sunday at St. Andrew's United Church of Christ in Dexter.

Girl Scouts from Troop 40513 will lead the program as color guard for the American and Christian flags. Veterans will be recognized as they stand at the presentation of the flags of each of the military branches.

Patriotic hymns, such as the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and others will be sung by the choir and the congregation and a message for the service will be presented by Rev. Larry VanSlambrook. 

At the close of the ceremony, taps will be played to honor veterans who have died in the past year.

A reception will follow in the church's fellowship hall. The public is invited to attend this event.

Milan

Veterans Day Ceremony

Milan will be holding a ceremony at the Veterans Wall of Honor on Wabash Street. Fifty-seven new names have been added to the wall this year, and five flag poles. The ceremony begins at 1:30 PM and will include members representatives from the City of Milan, Moving Milan Forward, and the American Legion.
