Traffic Delays on Sheldon Road Near M-14 Due to Gas Leak, Traffic Accident

At least one home was evacuated due to the leak, according to Consumers Energy.

Consumers Energy employees are working to shut off a gas line near Sheldon Road and Nantucket in Plymouth Township this afternoon.

According to Consumers, at least one home has been evacuated after workers hit a gas line around 1:30 p.m., releasing gas into nearby sewers.

According to a Consumers customer service representative, notification has gone out to residents affected. There is currently no estimate on when people can return to their homes, but workers on the scene said it could be several more hours.

Sheldon Road is open, but Nantucket is closed at Sheldon. Traffic is delayed on Sheldon between Penniman and M-14 due to the gas incident, as well as a single car accident that occurred on Sheldon near M-14 around 3 p.m.
