Crystal Bowersox to Headline Eco-Beats Stage at Green Street Fair

The former "American Idol" contestant will perform May 7 in Kellogg Park.

Crystal Bowersox, the runner up of the 2010 season of American Idol, has been announced as headliner for the 2011 in downtown Plymouth.

The environment-centric festival kicks off Friday, May 6 and Bowersox will perform May 7 on the Eco-Beats stage in .

The Green Street Fair brings exhibitors, vendors, artisans and entertainers to the streets of downtown Plymouth in an effort to teach people the benefits of living an environmentally-friendly lifestyle.

"We're very excited," said event organizer Mandi Buckland on Wednesday. "We just finalized the plans today."

Bowersox, 25, was born and raised in nearby Toledo, OH and released her first album Farmer's Daughter in December. She's known for her acoustic guitar playing and bluesy singing style.

She was the Idol contestant with the second-most votes in 2010, losing to Lee Dwyze in the finale.

There will be three full days of entertainment at the fair, including performances by Ann Arbor-based singer/songwriter Abigail Stauffer; southwest Michigan's Deep Fried Pickle Project, which plays homemade eco-friendly instruments, and Detroit jazz singer Tracy Kash.
