Michigan Philharmonic - The Red Velvet

Opening Night of the Michigan Philharmonic- 'The Red Violin' featuring the Philharmonic's talented former concertmaster, violinist Anicka Skalova as soloist on John Corigliano's Oscar-winning music from the movie 'The Red Violin'. The Red Violin: Chaconne for Violin and Orchestra brings together the beautiful haunting theme and the virtuosic flare of a concerto. Another box-office blockbuster film score, An American Symphony from 'Mr. Holland's Opus' opens the concert and Tchaikovsky's joyful, folk-inspired 'Little Russian' Symphony No. 2 brings it to an exhilarating close. 6PM-7PM PRE-CONCERT RECEPTION 7PM-7:15PM TALK IN THEATER ON SUPPORT OF THE ARTS BY SPEAKER CURT WHIPPLE.
