Saturday Night Music

The Plymouth Community Arts Council is offering an exciting new opportunity for local musical artists. The Saturday Night Music Series Program at PCAC will begin this February. The program’s goal is to provide a venue for local musicians to present their music to the public, collaborate with other artists and build their audience base in the community through monthly performance opportunities on the PCAC auditorium stage. Seating capacity for the auditorium is 110. The pilot program will include establishing a Saturday night concert series over a 5-6 month period.  Under the program, each participating performer/presenter will take responsibility for scheduling and presenting one or more Saturday night monthly concerts and creating a cohesive performance theme for that night. Performance themes might include a song writer’s performance, folk music, jazz /R&B music, children's music, cappella singing, world music, chamber music or any other style or combination of music types.  The concerts may include one or more music performers or music groups. The PCAC has set a minimum facility fee of $100 for each performance in order to establish a partnership and commitment with the performer/presenter in supporting our non-profit organization during these challenging economic times.

Our kick off for this new program will be Saturday, February 5th from 7:30-10:30 pm.  Performing will be The All Directions Band & Friends, as well as Kimberly and Dennis Ringer of “Red Sky at Nite”.

The All Directions Band was formed in 1976. It now includes original members Mike Ager on keyboards and Pat Sorise on drums and joining them to form a powerful R&B and jazz quintet are Kimberly Ringer on vocals, Paul Bairley on base and back in the area from his stint with the Jay Leno-Conan O'Brien Band, Eric Korte on saxophones. The band has been based out of Southeast Michigan and over the years has played such R&B and jazz area landmarks as the Golden Falcon Jazz Lounge, Mr. Floods Party, the original “Blind Pig”, The Del Rio , Union Street, The Delta Lady, The Intersection, The Traffic Jam, Woody's Inn, The Cross Street Station, Lizard's Underground and Dooley's. The group served as the “house band” for Detroit's Cobb’s Corner Lounge in the late 70’s and hosted a Sunday evening “Jazz Jam” which featured some of the City's all time jazz and R&B greats. The band has backed up a wide spectrum of talent including “The Drifters” and “The Diamonds” singing groups as well as jazz legend Grady Tate. All Directions also has traveled extensively playing a variety of clubs and concert venues. The All Directions Band will feature  a variety of R&B, jazz originals and standards and classic Motown/soul music.
