Locals Enjoy Plymouth's Drive-In

Families and couples go to Compuware Arena's drive-in theater.

Plymouth's parking lot is converted to a drive-in theater each summer, boasting three screens and runs a double feature on each every night.

One of the main differences between this and other drive-ins in the area is delivery service. The brewery is on the premises just inside the arena and they offer their full menu to drive-in patrons. They also offer a dinner and a movie deal that covers a meal and movie ticket.

David Doyle manages CJ's Brewing Company and said that the drive-in and the restaurant "function as one."

"The drive-in really has got a lot to do with the restaurants success during the summer," Doyle said.

Employees from both the restaurant and the arena contribute as staff for the drive-in. A few seasonal employees are also hired.

The drive-in continues through Labor Day weekend.

The following movies are showing this weekend: Cars 2 (G) with Mr. Popper's Penguins (PG); Transformers: Dark of the Moon (PG-13) with Super 8 (PG-13) and Zookeeper (PG) with Green Lantern (PG-13).

Tickets go on sale at 7:30 the night of the movie and all films begin at dusk (about 9:20 p.m.). Ticket prices and updated listings are available at the drive-in's website.
