Monster Mash-Up: Plymouth Artist Uses Doll Houses, Found Items for Spooky Centerpieces

Donated trinkets, dilapidated doll houses transformed into creepy haunted houses at Penniman Gallery.

With snakes, action figures, cobwebs, trinkets and a dreary shade of gray, the doll houses seen at Scott Smith's in downtown Plymouth are far removed from your daughter's Barbie Dream House.

The artist and gallery owner has transformed discarded doll houses into mini haunted houses, with a healthy dose of found items — such as buttons, doll parts and Army men — and plenty of imagination.

One is part of Smith's Halloween window display, an annual attraction for families seeking a scare throughout the past 20 years, while another is inside among Smith's other works.

Right now, the houses are for display only, but if more are made, Smith hasn't ruled out selling them to customers in the future.
