The Music in the Air concert series kicks off the summer with Metro Detroit's Motor City Soul band.

People of all ages slowly filled the lawn of on Friday evening to hear the Motown band Motor City Soul make their first Music in the Air appearance. Motor City Soul has also played at the Plymouth Fall Festival for the last two years.

All summer long, the annual Music in the Air series offers a free concert each Friday. The series has been a weekly staple not only for residents, but also for citizens of nearby communities. "It draws people from not only Plymouth but a lot of the surrounding areas and even… I've talked to people as far as downriver," said John Buzuvis with the Downtown Development Authority before  Friday's concert.

Mark Scott of Motown legends the Miracles made a surprise appearance Friday evening and was invited on stage to sing a song toward the end of the show.
