Plymouth Uptown Players Open Auditions in January

The PUPS program teaches children everything about producing and acting in a play including costumes, sets, and working together as a team with cast mates.

The Plymouth Community Arts Council announces auditions for The Plymouth Uptown Players (PUPS) Youth Theatre Winter/Spring 2014 season. 

The open call will be Sunday, Jan. 12 from 1-3 p.m. at the Plymouth Community Arts Council located at 774 N. Sheldon Road in Plymouth. Kids from ages 5-13, kindergarten through eighth grade, will be asked to read a short monologue for the Director, Amanda Ewing from Tipping Point Theatre. The piece may be memorized or read from printed notes.

The program costs $150 per actor for the season, with a current PCAC student membership required ($30/year). Actors may register the day of auditions, or pre-register by calling the PCAC during office hours, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. PUPS rehearsals will be on Sunday afternoons between 1 and 5pm, with specific times assigned by the Director after auditions.

Performances for the Winter Spring Season will be Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12. Actors must commit to being available for both performance dates. Specific times will depend on number of casts, and be announced at a later date.

The Plymouth Uptown Players (PUPS) is an experimental theatre group that is made up of elementary and middle school aged children. Each season (Fall and Spring) children are invited to participate in open auditions. The program is a cooperative effort between the Plymouth Community Arts Council and Tipping Point Theatre. All children who audition will receive a part. The program culminates in a play performed on Tipping Point Theatre's professional stage in downtown Northville. The performances are open to the public.
