Viewfinder: Blue Steel Performs in Kellogg Park

Belleville's big band jazz ensemble Blue Steel performed in Kellogg Park on Thursday. The open-air concert drew roughly 200 people, scattered throughout the park in folding chairs, on park benches and sprawled out on blankets, tapping their hands and feet to the rythms.

"We drew a good day, with all the heat and rain lately," said Tim Miller, leader of the band, who went on to say that he enjoys the intimacy of outdoor concerts, and the eclectic crowd they tend to draw in terms of age groups.

Beginning next week, the Thursday evening concert series will feature the Plymouth Community Band. The group will entertain park-goers this summer, performing six concerts through June and July.
