Bennigan's Closes Its Doors For The Final Time Saturday

Bennigan's restaurant in Plymouth Township will be closing it's doors for the final time Saturday night. After more than 30 years in business, it will finally succumb to the harsh economy businesses in Michigan have tried to endure.

Things finally got to the point where major renovations were needed, and with the lease situation, and the downturn in customers, LaBelle Management, which owns five other Bennigan's, decided it was time to pull the plug on this restaurant. The Steak & Ale which helped to draw traffic into the area has been closed for some time, and the location is kind of hidden from the road, next to the Comfort Inn, and that certainly did not help attract drive by customers.

While at one time, Bennigan's had lines outside the doors waiting for tables, it has become a place where there is a small, rather loyal group of “regulars.” These folks are sad to see it close, and will be there on Saturday to say goodbye to each other, as well as the staff, and finally, the restaurant, as they leave for the last time.

There will be 22 people without a job after Saturday, but LaBelle is doing their best to relocate them to other Bennigan's as well as giving good references for those searching for jobs elsewhere.

So if you want to go say goodbye to a 30 year fixture in Plymouth Township, Saturday is the day, and they will stay open until around 10:00 PM.

Bennigan's is located off Ann Arbor Road near I275, by the Comfort Inn.
