The Horror At The Boston Marathon

What lessons will be learned in the aftermath of the horror that was the Boston Marathon.

With a heavy heart I write to share my feelings about explosions that have rocked the city of Boston while they host their famous Boston Marathon.  The Boston marathon is an event that began in 1897, and is held on Patriots Day, which is the 3rd Monday in April, every year.It is early, and nobody knows for sure, but I am of the opinion until proven otherwise that this was a terrorist attack upon our nation.

The timing of this horrible attack is something that al Qaeda favors.  Patriots Day would be very favorable to them.  The fact that Boston is hosting runners from almost every nation on the planet would also be favorable to al Qaeda or any number of al Qaeda offshoots as well.

At the time of me writing this there are at least 3 dead, and many times more have amputation types of injuries.

There are not anywhere near the casualties of 911, but do not try to tell that to the families of the dead or injured in Boston.   One person dead or injured in a terrorist attack is too many.

As I watch injured people being evacuated, I am heartbroken for them and their families, and I am feeling the same anger well up in me as it did when I heard about the attack in Benghazi, and of Fort Hood, and of course 9/11.

I am angry because these attacks will continue until there are severe repercussions for not only the perpetrators but also those who harbor them.

I am angry because to this day President Obama has stood by while the military labeled the Fort Hood massacre as work place violence. Nidal Hasan, who gunned down 13 people, and injured several more had email communications with infamous al Qaeda terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki.  This was not workplace violence, it was a deliberate terrorist attack.

The Benghazi attack by al Qaeda terrorists was a planned terrorist attack, and although security, as well as Ambassador Christopher Stevens were asking for extra security, the State Department declined to give it to them.

Even as the attack was going on, there was no help given.  There were F16's available to at least buzz the area and maybe scare off the attackers, but they never got the go ahead.  President Obama was woken up in the middle of the night, and made aware of everything, and instead of staying up to monitor the situation, he went back to bed.

Hours later he made his way to Las Vegas for campaign stops and a major fundraiser.

So here we are today.  Two bombs were detonated at the finish line of the world famous Boston Marathon killing at least 3 and injuring scores.  Severed limbs littered the street and sidewalk according to a reporter.  Other suspected devices found and destroyed.

I don't know 100% that this was a terrorist attack.  Every fibre of my being tells me it was.  Could have been al Qaeda, and it could have been a home grown terrorist like the Oklahoma bomber Timothy Mcveigh.

In the coming days, the injured will be treated, the dead will be mourned and then buried.  In the coming weeks the investigations will proceed, and the perpetrators hopefully will be revealed.  It could happen soon that a suspect is caught.  Rumor has it that a suspicious person is being held in a Boston hospital.

In the end, if indeed this was a terrorist attack, I hope this President handles this differently than he handled Fort Hood, and Benghazi, because if these animals are able to proceed with impunity, they will surely continue their deeds, and they will become more brazen in their attacks.

Sadly, it is a different and dangerous world that we live in today...
