Canton Issues Forum To Take Place At The Canton Summit

The Primary election is coming on August 5, and for those that would like more information on the candidates, and the ballot issues, the Canton Republican Caucus will be hosting the second Canton Republican Issues Forum. This event is scheduled for Monday, July 21, 2014 at 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Chestnut Room at the Canton Summit from 7-9 PM.

The agenda is as follows:

INTRODUCTION OF CANDIDATES – by Michael Hansel: State Senator Patrick Colbeck, State House Representative Candidate Carol Ann Fausone, and Commissioner Shannon Price will attend, with a short statement by each, of their priorities in office.

EDUCATION BALLOT ISSUES –  P-CCS Board of Education members, Michael Maloney & Mark Horvath will discuss ballot proposals to be decided on August 5 – LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT - PLYMOUTH-CANTON COMMUNITY SCHOOLS OPERATING MILLAGE RENEWAL PROPOSAL and INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DISTRICT - WAYNE COUNTY REGIONAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AGENCY REGIONAL ENHANCEMENT MILLAGE PROPOSAL.

 

PERSONAL PROPOERTY TAX ISSUE – by Mr. Eric Lupher/Research Director/Citizens Research Council of Michigan: Ballot Proposal 14-1, APPROVAL OR DISAPPROVAL OF AMENDATORY ACT TO REDUCE STATE USE TAX AND REPLACE WITH A LOCAL COMMUNITY STABILIZATION SHARE TO MODERNIZE THE TAX SYSTEM TO HELP SMALL BUSINESSES GROW AND CREATE JOBS.

 

COUNTY/DETROIT WATER BOARD ISSUE – by Mr. James Fausone/Chairman, Detroit Water Board Commissioners: A discussion of the possible transfer of the Detroit Water and Wastewater Treatment System to either a private entity or to the surrounding counties, including the impact on residence.

 

ROADS – by Michael Hansel - and/or handout material: A comprehensive discussion of residence roads, main roads that Wayne County has responsibility for, including funding by Canton Township, Wayne County and the State of Michigan, and a technical discussion on road repairs.

 

QUESTIONS FROM THE June 9th FORUM – by Michael Hansel – and/or handout material: Every question submitted is answered.

The above presentations will be followed by NEW attendee questions for the remainder of the time allotted.
