Obama Goes Rogue, Pushes VA Scandal Off The Front Page

President Obama had one very good reason to suddenly go against the wishes of Congress, and the advice of his intelligence experts, and trade the top five Gitmo detainees for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who walked away from an American military outpost. That reason is the recent VA scandal. Since the sudden release of what most are calling the “Gitmo Five” you have not heard one word about the disgusting treatment of our veterans at the hands of the Veteran Administration hospitals.

In the weeks leading up to the “Gitmo Five” release, Obama was being hammered about the VA from not only the right, but also from members of his own Democratic Party. He was being openly criticized by the usually sympathetic mainstream media, as well as the ardently supportive MSNBC & CNN.

President Obama, in his first presidential campaign, was outright vicious in his comments about President Bush, and how he was handling the VA Hospitals. He promised better service to our veterans. He said that we owed it to them, and that “It will be a cornerstone of my presidency to improve the VA Health System.”

In 2011, when he was running for reelection, he touted supposed improvements in the VA Health System, Here is the problem. He was lying. He hadn't done a darn thing to improve the system. The system was actually worse. It was exponentially worse. Not only that, but he had been warned by the Inspector General way back in 2009 that he shouldn't trust the numbers given him pertaining to patients served. He was warned that they were cooking the books. Making up numbers. Hiding patients.

He had this information in 2009, and did absolutely nothing about it. One year ago, Florida Congressman Jeff Miller, wrote him a letter begging for help on the issues that have recently come to light, and it fell on deaf ears at the White House.

Now we find out that as many as 40 veterans, and maybe more, have died while waiting for medical care that they were never going to receive. Now we find out that this crime is going on at veterans hospitals throughout the country. Now we find out that Obama had this information, and never did a thing about it.

He used the plight of our war veterans for political purposes, and then when the election was over, he ignored their pleas for help. Sadly, this is business as usual for this administration.

So suddenly, against the advice of just about every foreign policy expert, every military expert, and against the wishes of Congress, he ups and cuts a deal with the Taliban. This goes against what everybody advised back in 2011, which was the last time anybody in Congress heard from him on this matter.

He unilaterally makes this disgusting trade for Bergdahl, and for the first time in history, the United States actually negotiates with a terrorist organization. He puts 5 men who hate, and want to kill Americans back on the streets to commit more atrocities. Two of these men are wanted by the UN for war crimes. In his narcissistic arrogance, he did not think that the American people would see through this disgusting move.

He actually thought the American people would celebrate this trade. We got our man back. He'd get a bounce in the polls, and the VA situation would go away. Heck, if things went really well, he could begin emptying out Gitmo in the process, which is something he dearly wants to do. So Obama moved on this trade, and he did it on his own.

Obama did not let key intelligence advisers know, and he did not give Congress the lawful 30 days notice that he was going to do this deal. By law, he is supposed to give 30 days notice to Congress. He claimed that Bergdahl's health was the main concern, and they did not have time to notify Congress. He claimed that the man was close to death. Well, we've seen the video, and he looks healthy as a horse, so that claim looks like a lie.

He did not notify Congress, or anybody else, because they would have very strongly objected to negotiating with terrorists. This country does not ever negotiate with terrorists. Until now. President Obama just set the most dangerous precedent this country has ever seen. He has told the world that the United States will now negotiate with terrorists, and in doing so, every terrorist organization now has a lot of motivation to kidnap Americans around the world. If they can get a US Military member, all the better.

The reasons for not doing this prisoner swap are numerous. There are a great many of Bowe Bergdahl's fellow service members who are now saying he deserted. It is known that he was AWOL, but men in his platoon say he deserted, which is a far more serious crime.

So why suddenly make this trade? We never negotiate with terrorists. This man was of very questionable character. Even if he was a hero, you shouldn't negotiate with terrorists. It was a lopsided trade at 5 for 1. It makes no sense.

Well I think it is pretty convenient for Obama that we haven't heard one word about our American veterans not getting their healthcare anymore. We no longer see the widows of Vietnam Veterans, whose husbands died at the hands of the VA on TV. The 40 some veterans who died waiting for care are out of the news cycle. The timing of this move is very convenient for Obama.

They are out of the news cycle, and Obama can now defend a position of bringing an American POW home, which I guess, is easier than the indefensible position of doing nothing while our veterans died waiting for care.

We are not out of Afghanistan yet, and this dirty deal that Obama did will put our remaining soldiers at grave risk. That is a fact. Our President just traded the safety of our soldiers abroad, to put out a political fire created when he ignored the disgusting treatment of our soldiers at home. Obama traded one group of American soldiers for another, and he lives to fight another day.

Our brave men and women in the military put their lives on the line every single day, and this President treats them like pawns in his political game of chess, and as a proud American, I am deeply saddened by this...
