Our Vietnam Veterans Will Be Marching In The Plymouth 4th Of July Parade

Many of you know that there was a recent issue about our Vietnam Veterans marching in the Plymouth 4th Of July Parade. They were slotted 51st in last year's parade, and due to the extremely long wait just to get started, as well as the fact that these veterans are getting up in age, they requested to be slotted closer to the front.

They met with some resistance from the parade organizer, Mr. Fred Hill, and things escalated from there. After Plymouth-Canton Patch covered this story, others followed, including the Plymouth Observer, and Channel 2 News.

There was an overwhelming response from our Plymouth Community, and folks were not only supportive of our veterans based on their health restrictions, but also out of a great respect for their service to our nation. I could not be any more proud of the folks in this community who stepped up, and vocally supported our veterans.

This story came to the attention of the head of the Plymouth Kiwanis Club, who sponsors this parade. Frank Sinagra is a decorated Vietnam Veteran, and he took swift action to settle this matter. Mr. Sinagra brought the folks together, they sat down, had a conversation, and as of about noon today, VVA President, Ron King informed me that the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 528 received assurances that they would be slotted in one of the top 10 positions in this parade that celebrates our nation's independence.

As a proud American, I would like to thank VVA President Ron King, Frank Sinagra, and Mr. Fred Hill for their efforts in getting this thing done for the folks who want to attend this wonderful parade, and celebrate America.

Mr. Hill has a monumental job in juggling all of the various participants, and I am appreciative of his willingness to sit down and approach this situation with an open mind, and ultimately find a way to work to a solution that makes sense for everybody involved.

With that said, I look forward to attending this event, and cheering for everybody involved in our parade. We are one Plymouth...
