Basket Kreations Opens for Business after Being Closed for Water Troubles

Stella Delap, owner of , a gift shop in downtown Plymouth, has seen her fair share of setbacks during her 22 years as a business owner.

But the most recent one, in which she was forced to close her store for a month after a water main break caused extensive water damage, was what she called just a "little frustration."

Sometime during the night on Feb. 4, water flooded Delap's store, and municipal workers discovered a stream of water flowing onto the street in the morning.

For a month following the break, Delap had to close Basket Kreations to dry out, and refinish the floors and redisplay all her merchandise.

But since March 7, she's been back in business and is ready for customers to once again fill the space on Forest Avenue.

Basket Kreations got started as a gift basket business that sold customized gift packages.

The first location opened in Canton in 1989 but was condemned in 1999 after the roof of the strip mall it was located in collapsed. She then moved to her current location in downtown Plymouth.

The store's business model continues to center around gift baskets, but Delap describes it as more of an all-around gift shop.

"When our customers need a gift, they know they can come in here and get a unique gift at any price point," Delap said.

Among the items the store sells are baby clothing and toys, ceramic dishes, specialty food items and fresh baked goods.
