Dick Scott is a Familiar Site on Plymouth Corner

The car dealership has kept up with the times and stays in touch with its customers through all avenues of social media.

Dick Scott Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is an unmistakable landmark in Plymouth. It opened on Ann Arbor Road in 1983 as a Dodge franchise. In 1987, it was remodeled and expanded to the corner of Main Street. It was remodeled again this year in March.

The dealership has been a family-owned business from the beginning, started by Dick Scott, whose children Jason and Nichole work in the business today.

Nichole Scott said she started work at the dealership in 1992 when she worked in the office and as a cashier. Now she is director of dealership operations for the Plymouth store and the three other locations — Dick Scott Motor Mall in Fowlerville, Dick Scott Nissan in Canton and Dick Scott Pre-Owned Center in Bloomfield Hills.

Over the years, the dealership acquired Chrysler and Jeep.

"We've grown considerably in terms of the number of cars we sell and the people we service," she said.

Scott said the dealership has a loyal customer base and is a familiar location in the community on the corner of Ann Arbor Road and Main Street.

"We've been sitting here on the corner for 20 years," she said. "We're a familiar part of people's trips to downtown."

Customers and Community

Scott said the dealership focuses most on customers.

"We have a very active website," she said.

In addition to the website, the dealership connects with customers through email newsletters, personalized phone calls, traditional mail and almost all of the social media sites that can be named — Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest

"It's family-owned and operated, so we try to stay really involved in the community," she said.

The dealership is involved with the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and has a PTA program where customers can present a voucher that will donate $100 for every car sold or leased from the dealership to the  PTA.

The dealership also participates in Toys for Tots every December.

Technology and expansion

Scott said the vehicles are more technical now and require more training for technicians and sales staff.

The dealership also added a collision shop and an express lube service, which service all makes and models.

"In a household, they might have a Chrysler, a Ford and a Toyota," Scott said, explaining the convenience servicing all models brings to customers.
