Those driving down I-275 may see a familiar face in the sky, just north of Eureka Road.
Caitlin James, co-owner of Drought raw juice bar in Plymouth, smiles down at commuters from just above the tree line.
James, a 2007 Eastern Michigan University (EMU) graduate, is part of the university's True EMU marketing campaign, now in its third year.
"We were looking for successful graduates (for the campaign) and obviously she's very successful in her field and the work that she's done," said Ted Coutilish, Vice President of Marketing at EMU.
The campaign features 12 different successful graduates on 24 billboards around southeastern Michigan. Each alumni is featured on two billboards. James' other location is on I-696, near Groesbeck Highway.
The True EMU campaign billboards will run through April, but the billboard locations will move around, so it won't get boring.
According to Coutilish, James came to the attention of his supervisor through a networking event in Mackinaw.
"He met her and knew she was a CEO of a company that does energy drinks and talked to her about sales and life successes she's had," he said. "And he thought she would be a great one to add to the campaign " and she was a great addition to the program.
The True EMU marketing campaign featured students in its first year, faculty during its second year and has now moved on to alumni.
"It (the campaign) has been very well received by alumni, faculty and students," Coutilish said. "What's great about the campaign is the ability to have individual statements and show Eastern Michigan University from different perspectives. It's great that we're able to do that through different people."
